FACETING REPORT
On the Tuesday ,26th.July an Introductory Faceting Course was commenced. We had 4 starters for this course which unfortunately, because of personal reasons for 2 people reduced the class to only 2 factors, Judy and Wayne Heynes. This in itself turned out to be very good for Judy and Wayne because with Kel and Bob as instructors, they received one on one attention.
The course started with the usual theory explanation of our goals of faceting. The students were each given a piece of TV glass as their rough and were shown how to fix it to the “dop stick” with wax. Both Judy and Wayne progressed slowly to produce the pavilion of their stone. As is usual, time got away from them and Wednesday and Thursday was used to get their stones to the transfer stage. I have to say in their defence that the extra time taken has paid off for both Judy & Wayne in that the produced stone by both is of very nice quality so far. It’s a pity that the material is only TV glass. Good on you Judy and Wayne.
